Gamesinasia is reporting that the Heroes Team has revealed Chen Stormstout as a new playable character at the Chinajoy games conference. Check out their article for a ton of images from the event.

There’s also a sneak peek at Chen’s abilities that were shown off during the presentation, though descriptions of what those abilities do are a mystery at this point. To speculate a bit:

• Flying Kick appears to be a movement ability that’ll let Chen charge in and deal some damage.
• Keg Smash appears to be a targeted area attack. Pretty likely that it may also be an area slow, or potentially something that interacts with…
• …Breath of Fire, a cone of fire damage. I could see the synergy of soaking a cluster of enemies with Keg Smash and then lighting them up to deal aggravated damage.
• Wandering Keg could be a movement ability (the screenshot provided seems to indicate the keg moving away from a pursuing hero) or it could potentially be a fire-and-forget slow-moving missile.
• Storm, Earth, Fire is most likely Chen’s heroic ability, but there was no accompanying screenshot. If the RTS Brewmaster ability (and/or the Warcraft monk ability) of the same name is any indication, the ability will let Chen split into three forms temporarily to deal big damage.

It’s very likely that an official preview of Chen is forthcoming, so stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.
