Kharazim Build: Medicine via Punching

by - 9 years ago

Kharazim is one of the most recent supports added to the game and represents the monk class from Diablo 3. In Heroes of the Storm he plays as an in your face melee support. His heals and ability to bail his teammates out of sticky situation makes him a welcome addition to any team. If you would like to read up on the basics about Kharazim head over to the BlizzPro hero page which can be found here.

Basic Abilities

Transcendence -(Passive Trait) You have an option to pick between 3 passive traits at level 1 but this is the one you will be selecting all the time as a support. Without this trait Karazim’s heals are lacking so skipping it isn’t really an option.

Iron Fists – (Passive Trait) The extra damage could be nice if you end up in a team that already has a main support although the bonus damage doesn’t really provide the tangible bonus like Transcendence. I personally would rather always affect the game with extra heals as a support rather than a slight buff to damage.

Insight – (Passive Trait) I can’t see ever wanting to take this. The monk typically doesn’t have huge mana problems and any mana problem can always be fixed by hearthing to the Halls of Storm. I wouldn’t waste a talent choice on this passive.

Radiant Dash – (Q) A very strong dash tool due to its low mana cost and the fact that it can hold two charges. If you target an enemy with this they will be hit with a basic attack so keep that in mind if an ally is trying to escape. Transcendence will trigger off of basic attacks so dashing to the enemy with Q and dropping that extra heal might be the little bit your teammates needs to escape.

Breath of Heaven – (W) An AOE heal that gives your team a movement speed buff of 10%. Using this within a group of your allies will obviously maximize it but don’t be afraid to just heal one person because it is a strong heal.

Deadly Reach – (E) A nice steroid for your basic attacks to help out with your damage and range. I try to use this most of the time it is off cooldown because the extra range can really help out with Transcendence.

Heroic Abilities

Seven Sided Strike – (R) This is a very strong ultimate that can really blow somebody who it struck by all of the hits. I like to use this against heroes who are hard to kill and used to escaping with low health such as Muradin or Johanna. Focusing one target is the best use of this ultimate but if you happen to catch a few with this the damage is still good. I will take this ultimate about 25% of the time especially if I feel our team might need more burst damage on it or I’m worried about 1 specific enemy.

Divine Palm – (R) I love this ultimate because it save peoples bacon including your own. You see a lot of team comps built around focusing 1 target down to force a 4v5 and divine palm can save that from happening while your team picks off the people who overextend for the kill. This is a pretty big heal as well which will allow your the teammate you save to hop right back into the fight. This is much like Rehgar’s heroic in terms of how much it can change the outcome of the fight. Unless I feel strongly about taking 7 sided strike, for the one the reasons listed above, then I will pick diving palm and save some lives.

The Build

Level 1

Transcendence – See the Basic Abilities section

Level 4

Protective Shield – Protective shield is as good as ever especially on a hero like Kharazim who gets in close and mixes it up with the enemy. Dashing to a target and giving them Protective Shield is often the difference between life and death. I personally do not like taking Healing Ward at this level but some players do. If you feel you don’t want Protective Shield then I suppose that Healing Ward is the pick. Foresight is a nice option against stealth enemies as well.

Level 7

Echo of Heaven – This is a very strong talent choice that is very hard to pass up.The second heal makes a big difference throughout the game allowing Kharazim to stick to his enemies or have an easier time saving multiple allies. If the enemy team has multiple stuns and are attempting to lock 1 target down then I will take cleanse.

Level 10

Divine Palm – see heroic abilities section.

Level 13

Relentless – Since the monk is up in peoples faces most of the time and CC is everywhere in Heroes I like to take relentless. If the enemy team doesn’t have too much to fear in the ways of CC then I typically go with Quicksilver for the movement boost.

Level 16

Circle of Life -This is a great option at the level because that flat 10% increase per hero is rather large. Unless you passed on Cleanse but now feel like you need Soothing Breeze the only real choice at this level is Circle of Life.

Level 20

Storm Shield – This wins team fights late especially against a team that did not take or have access to Storm Shield. I will take this most of the time but If I took 7 sided strike and I find that targets are barely surviving then Transgression isn’t a terrible choice. Storm Shield can straight up win you games though so stick with that most of the time.

The Strategy

Kharazim is a support with good survival so in the early game I like to pick a good lane partner that I can be a bully with. He pairs well with other melee assassins or strong bruiser tanks. Just toss out your heals and help shove the lane back until an objective starts. While Kharazim is good at mixing it up remember that your number one jump is to support the damage with heals and peels.

In mid and late game it is really just more of the same. Stay with you team and try to hit game changing heals and heroics. Divine palm really puts in work as described above and if you chose to go with 7 sided strike look for a chance to blow up a target isolated from his team. There can be great opportunities for this with a tank like Johanna or Stitches on your team.

Overall Kharazim was a strong addition to the roster and plays well in most peoples hand. Hes not overly complicated but is a very strong pick for the teams support. I hope you learned something from this guide and continue to check out BlizzPro for a new one next week!
