Blizzcon 2015 Predictions
by JR Cook - 8 years ago show comments
The Blizzcon Opening Ceremonies are only a few hours away, which means there will be a wealth of new Heroes of the Storm information coming our way soon.
Rather than wait for Blizzard to make their official announcements, I thought it would be fun to speculatate on what we might expect to hear when they take the stage.
With that in mind, here are a few of my predictions for Blizzcon 2015:
A Starcraft 2 Event
Rumor has it that there will be two new maps and four new Heroes announced. Since Dustin Browder has said previously that there would be an SC2 event, but not this year, I think they will anounce a Starcraft event for early 2016.
In anticipation of this event, I predict that both new maps will be Starcraft themed, as well as at least two Heroes. If I had to to name them, I would say Fenix and Dahaka, although the addition of Lt. Morales has opened the door to more unit based Heroes.
An Overhaul To The MMR System
Some of the biggest complaints about Heroes of the Storm revolve around the matchmaking process. Based on comments they have made, this seems to be an issue that Blizzard takes seriously. I am not sure exactly what form it will take, but I think it is a safe bet that they will announce sweeping changes to the matchmaking system, including an MMR reset. I think it makes sense to tie this change to a new season, but it could easily be changed while we are still in Preseason.
Season One Launch Date
Speaking of Preseason, I think we will finally get a time frame for when Season One will begin. This should also mean the release of Grand Master League. Preseason has been going on since Beta, and what better time to start a new season that after a matchmaking overhaul.
Overwatch Heroes
This isn’t much of a prediction after the recent GameStop leaks, but new Heroes from the Overwatch Franchise will be confirmed. According to the leaked information, it appears that Tracer will be the first Overwatch Hero, and she will be released in June, 2016 as part of an Overwatch preorder promotion. Personally, I am excited to see Overwatch Heroes entering the Nexus, but I am disappointed that the information was leaked on the eve of Blizzcon.
Stay tuned to Blizzpro to get all of the latest news from Blizzcon, and to find out how accurate these predictions were.
