Cho, the smarter head.

by - 8 years ago

Cho is the better half of Cho’gall the two headed Ogre Magi. Being the tank portion of the two, Cho brings several unique skills to the nexus which we will explore below.

Skills

Q Surging Fist

After charging up for a second Cho charges forward quickly in a superman punch that will deal a base 46 damage and knock everyone aside. This is a wonderful skill for body blocking people and setting Cho up for his other skills or even to get out of risky situation. Keep in mind that you can be stunned out of it during your windup so if you’re holding it and get stunned, you’re now without your punch.

W Consuming Blaze

This is such a wonderful skill for Cho in that this is an AOE nuke and a heal for you at the same time. It’ll deal a base 134 damage and if you connect with an enemy you’re healed for 272 health over 4 seconds. You’re going to be using this a lot in team fights as well as taking camps.

E Rune Bomb

You chuck a rock. It deals a base 91 damage along its path. That idiot Gall has to detonate it to deal an additional base 274 damage. Hopefully he can pay attention enough to detonate it at the right time.

Trait Two-Headed

I swear I wish I could stuff a Merlock in Gall’s mouth sometimes. He won’t or can’t shut up. At least he moves where I want to go.

Ultimates

Hammer Of Twilight

I am 100% in love with this skill. Its a 20% damage buff, as well as a stun you can activate every 15 seconds that has a decent amount of knock back on it. Its like a mini haymaker.

Upheaval

This ultimate is nothing to sneeze at either. Its drags enemies into you doing minor damage but also slowing them by 25% for 3 seconds. This ultimate can totally rearrage a team fight into your favor.

The build

Level 1 Surging Dash

You totally want the 25% buff to range and speed on your Surging Fist. Getting in or out quicker is going to be amazing for setting this build up.

Level 4 Seared Flesh

So now your Consuming Blaze brings even more pain to your enemies. After hitting someone with your W, they’re now going to take 25% more damage from you. Start punching them in the face harder now!

Level 7 Fire Eater

This is going to up your tankiness up a great deal, now blazed targets you attack will heal you for 50% of the damage dealt. Coupled with Cho’gall’s insane health pool, this is going to keep you in team fights for far longer than any normal tank has to be around.

Level 10 Hammer of Twilight

See Ultimates Section

Level 13 Molten Block

Aw jeeze, did you over commit on accident and now their whole team is sick of your crap and is focusing you down but your team is right behind you catching up? That’s fine, pop this skill and enter that stasis status but the fun is you deal AOE damage during your time in Molten Block. Don’t be afraid to pop this if things get a little dicey.

Level 16 Twilight Veil

This is only going to encourage you to land those 3-5 man Consuming Blazes. for every hero hit by consuming blaze now, you will get 2 seconds of 50% reduction in ability damage taken. Once again, that’s a massive buff to your ability to survival that you should abuse greatly.

Level 20 The Will Of Gall

Sometimes you need Gall to give you a pep talk and make you into the unstoppable force that you really need to become. Gall popping this talent will make you unstoppable for 2 seconds, giving you that extra time you need to pop another consuming blaze, dash out of a fight. Whatever you really need to do sometimes. Gall isn’t totally useless I suppose.

Strategy

Be aggressive. Be be aggressive. Cho has a massive health pool, no mana cost abilities and a decent escape and a second head that won’t shut up. Stay in their face, throw spells in their face, push them away from objectives. Be the man you always wanted to be! In the early game you want to be that huge jerk, putting damage on whoever gets close to you. Hopefully Gall will be decent enough to watch when you chuck out rune bombs for extra damage, or you could always say something to him. They’re going to be surprised by how much damage you put out starting at level 4 after you land Consuming Blazes on them. They’re going to be annoyed at 7 when you start healing by punching them in the face after landing it on them. Once your ultimate is online go with Hammer of Twilight obviously and start using your Surging Fist to dash in on people, land a Consuming Blase and then quickly Hammer some unfortunate soul backwards into your team. You’re tanky enough to be able to get back to your team to finish them off. Its a 15 second knock back stun, abuse the hell out of it. As the game goes on, you get more and more tanky so take full advantage of that fact. However be entirely away of Giant Killer heroes like Raynor, Valla, and Falstad, with your HP pool so high, they will totally shred your HP even with the aforementioned skill build. At 20, Will of Gall will get you out of a lot of crazy situations. Did ETC just mosh pit you? Gall popping Will of Gall will get you out of it so you can hammer him and stop that horrible garbage band music he’s playing. Cho is a lot of fun and this build adds a lot to his already formidable tanking abilities. However, know your limits, know when to Surging Fist away to prevent yourself from dying and leaving two heroes off the field for your team. Dying with Cho’gall means your team is now down two people so know when to get out.
