Patch Notes TLDR: Garden of Terror

by - 8 years ago

Let’s be honest, not everyone reads patch notes. Even the players that do read them often just skim looking for changes that are of particular interest to them.

Since the next patch, scheduled to be released on March 29th, contains some major changes, I thought it might be helpful to highlight some of the more significant items that everyone needs to be aware of. One of the biggest adjustments in this patch involves the Garden of Terror battleground.

The changes on this map center around the player controlled Garden Terror. The hit and run Garden Terror strategy is gone, and players will no longer move from lane to lane dropping Overgrowth (W) while the enemy team chases after them.

Garden Terror players will now need to attack with the Terror in order to do damage, and there should be more emphasis on teams pushing with the Terror as opposed to the old split push strategy. Players will also need to use Overgrowth (W) differently now that it no longer damages Structures or Minions. Since the purpose of Overgrowth to disable Structures, it should be placed much more strategically so that it can be protected by the team. The Terror now also does 100% bonus damage to Structures disabled by Ovegrowth, so teams that are able to protect the Overgrowth will benefit from the increased duration. Teams that place it recklessly, or don’t protect it, will be punished by the longer cooldown.

Garden of Terror is often cited by players as their least favorite map. It is definitely my least favorite map.

Hopefully these changes will make it a more enjoyable map to play on. The fact that players will no longer spend a good portion of their time chasing a runaway Terror should help.

It will be easy to spot the people who didn’t read the patch notes this time around. They will be the players who are still dropping Overgrowth and running. If you see that happen feel free to direct them to this article 😉
