In another fine example of Blizzard cross-promoting their games the Heroes of the Storm team announced an upcoming promotion with ties to the home of many Nexus heroes: Azeroth. During the For Azeroth! event beginning February 14th and running through March 14th players can earn two epic in-game mounts, one for World of Warcraft and the other for Heroes of the Storm (along with a few other in-game goodies).
Heroes of the Storm is LIVE!!! And with a Live game, come the inevitable patch notes. The biggest item coming from today’s patch is the newest addition to the Warrior role: the Diablo III Crusader, Johanna. Blizzard has also included an increasing XP bonus over the course of the next three weeks (25% the first week, 50% the second, and 100% the third week) which should help boost players to eligibility for Hero League at player level 30 and Team League at player level 40. In addition to unlocking additional modes of competition, this will help players earn the cross promotional items available for Hearthstone and World of Warcraft. For more information about what today’s patch included, check out the full list of patch notes included below, and good luck in the Nexus!
With the official launch of Heroes of the Storm happening today Blizzard is leveraging their varied games and fans to promote the newest addition to the group with cross promotions for multiple games. To get Hearthstone players to answer the call of the Nexus, Blizzard has added a Heroes of the Storm cardback which can be earned only by reaching player level 12 in Heroes of the Storm. If you participated in the Heroes of the Storm Beta test and have already reached level 12, you should receive your new card back upon logging into Hearthstone some time in the coming days. However, you’ll not want to neglect your Hearthstone account during all of this either. For those Hearthstone players who have won at least 100 matches in Play mode (in Arena, Ranked, or Unranked play) you’ll receive a free mount (shaped like a Hearthstone card) for your characters to

Heroes of the Storm has been brought down for maintenance (welcome to Tuesday morning) which includes the most recent patch to the game, along with the introduction of one of the most recent additions: Kael’thas Sunstrider! An assassin character from the World of Warcraft universe, Kael’thas makes use of magic spells (similar to Jaina) and he should make an interesting addition to the Nexus. Today’s update also includes polishing of many art and sound assets, menu updates to remove items which do not apply to Heroes of the Storm, User Interface updates which should highlight certain information to make it easier to find, talent balancing, and fixes for a significant amount of minor bugs. Without further ado, here are the patch notes:
Now that we have an official release date of June 2nd, 2015, Blizzard has announced a Starter Pack to help get you started if you weren’t able to get into the Beta, or to supplement what you’ve already earned along the way. The Starter Pack is available from the in-game store and includes five heroes (Zagara, Sonya, Li-Li, Jaina, and Zeratul). This gives you one Warrior, Support, and Specialist hero, along with two Assassin Heroes. For new players this can be a great way to try out each role and find out which fits you best. It also ensures that the buyers of this pack have at least one of each type of hero available for the “Complete 3 games as a _______ character” dailies to earn gold. Also included in the pack is the Ronin Zeratul skin, and the Golden Tiger mount. It also seems that Blizzard has heard
Over the weekend the Heroes of the Storm Community team teased an announcement happening today. In a video and blog posted this morning, we now know what that announcement is: That’s right, we have a launch date! Following a two week period of open beta testing, Heroes of the Storm will officially launch June 2nd, 2015. There will not be any more wipes of existing data, so whatever progress you’ve made thus far you will keep when the game launches. While there are some minor technical issues which still need to be worked out, keep in mind this still gives Blizzard six weeks to do final polishing before the game goes live. Once the game does go live most issues with matchmaking should work themselves out as there will be many players for the system to choose from when creating matches. Development for the game will also be ongoing as
to sign up to receive news and special offers from Blizzard Entertainment! Today the World of Warcraft Twitter account (@Warcraft) sent out a message to anyone who is not currently in the Heroes of the Storm Closed Beta test. The message: Opt into marketing emails. In your Battle.net Communication Preferences page at the very bottom, there are two checkboxes which allow Blizzard to send you different types of emails. The second box allows them to send you emails with status updates on any Support Tickets you may enter. The first (and relevant in this case) box allows them to send you emails with News and Special Offers. I’m not normally one to encourage opening yourself up for potential spam, but I’ve got this box checked in my preferences and it’s pretty rare that I get something I’m not interested in. Beta keys, free game time, Gear Store sales, etc. So check out your
