BlizzPro's Heroes Of The Storm

I have been excited about Heroes of the Storm for quite awhile, for a lot of very superficial reasons. I love MOBAs. I love Blizzard franchises. I didn’t need more to get hyped about the game, and then Dustin Browder took the stage and made me fall in love with title. The actual panel itself was fairly straightforward. The team on stage told us about mounts, skins, the Nexus, the various maps and accompanying mechanics, and peppered in all of that was an idea that this game would not be a clone of the other games on the market because, frankly, it didn’t have to be. Other, smaller companies might need to color within the lines, but Blizzard doesn’t have to, and won’t. A lot of us got the message without it needing to be spelled out, but apparently some didn’t and that led to the Q&A phase. Some of ...

There were a lot of different things announced at the BlizzCon 2013 opening ceremony, but nothing generated more hype with the crowd than Heroes of the Storm, with the exception of Hearthstone on the iPhone. Fans went into the segment with almost no understanding of what the upcoming title would bring and left with a burning need to play the game. Here’s what we know thus far: Champions of Blizzard There’s no surprise here. Heroes of the Storm will feature characters from the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo universes, all colliding in a crazy, essentially loreless environment. Initial trailers showed Nova Terra, Diablo, Arthas, Jim Raynor, Kerrigan and Tyrael duking it out. Beyond that, we did see a character selection screen, and that gives us some more hints as to who might be involved. Moreover, based on the image above, it seems like we can definitely expect character skins, something totally ...

Concept art has been released for Blizzard’s upcoming MOBA Heroes of the Storm, and in it, we see at least some characters that we can expect to be in the game. The roster’s not surprising thus far, featuring Warcraft mainstays such as Sylvanas Windrunner, Anub’arak, Illidan Stormrage, Chen Stormstout and Arthas in his Lich King getup. A couple of weeks back, we also saw concept art for Malfurion Stormage, and his terrifying flock of owls. Other Blizzard characters include the Lord of Terror himself, Diablo, along with the Witch Doctor. Nova Terra and Jim Raynor are present to represent the Starcraft universe. Today, we’ll see and hear more about Heroes of the Storm at the game’s panel starting at 4:45 PDT. While we wait, it’s always fun to speculate on characters we’d like to see in the game. Here’s 10 characters not featured above that we at BlizzPro would like ...

The fated weekend is almost upon us, and this year there’s no shortage of hype. BlizzCon 2013 will lift the fog surrounding the next World of Warcraft expansion and provide us with more details on Diablo III’s expansion, Reaper of Souls. The Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft panel will undoubtedly be a good time, and there, we could learn about the direction of the title post open beta. Admittedly, I’m unsure of what to expect from the Starcraft II panel, not being totally familiar with the game beyond the campaign mode. What really stands out to me though about this year is Heroes of the Storm. For those unfamiliar with MOBAs, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, the market is oversaturated. There are two big titles, Riot’s League of Legends and Valve’s Dota II, with a third title, S2’s Heroes of Newerth a good ways behind the rest of the pack. Behind ...

It’s not even been a week since Heroes of the Storm was officially announced as the re-branding of Blizzard All-Stars and a new controversy has already arisen. It seems there is a Finnish tabletop RPG for children named Myrskyn Sankarit which translates into English as, you guessed it, Heroes of the Storm.  The creator of Myskyn Sankarit, Mike Pohjola, has filed a dispute with Blizzard’s trademark application in the EU saying that he is concerned about the two games co-existing peacefully.  I’m no expert on Trademark law, but it is possible for multiple businesses or products to have the same trademark so long as there is little chance the two would be confused for one another.  Even though one is a pen-and-paper game and the other a computer game there is still enough overlap to give merit to the dispute claim. We’ll see how this turns out in Finland and ...

A few weeks ago we reported on Heroes of the Storm being trademarked in New Zealand. Several people were guessing it would be the next WoW expansion, but we said it would make more sense to be a re-branding of Blizzard All Stars. We were correct. Blizzard has just put up their new site for Heroes of the Storm along with a trailer but together by CarBots (of StarCrafts fame). You can visit the new site here and see the trailer below, We at BlizzPro plan on having a dedicated website for this title up sometime after BlizzCon, very much similar to our Hearthstone site – so be sure to check that out when it goes live!...

Our friend Kevin Carlino (AKA Sixen, MVP on the official Diablo forums and also expert regarding all things Blizzard All Stars) has posted a new episode in his Blizzard All Stars series. This is episode 15 and he talks about why we haven’t been hearing too much about Blizzard All Stars lately. In a recent Activision-Blizzard conference call which we reported on here – we noticed a slide that said what Blizzard would release in 2013 and what their long term releases were. Blizzard All Stars didn’t show up for 2013 but showed up on the long term. This leads us to believe that Blizzard All Stars won’t be out anytime soon and has been somewhat delayed (quite possibly hit by the same “reset” button Titan just got hit by). Either way, Sixen talks about all of this in a short and sweet segment and you should watch it – ...
